Coleman Thomas Doxey entered the world at 5:03 am on Wed. June 25, 2008 weighing 5 lbs 14 oz and 19 in long. He was rushed out of the delivery room to the special care nursery before we saw him. There he had a bunch of tests done and was given his first IV, which he ripped out moments later. He was also placed on a bubble c-pap to help him breathe because his lungs were underdeveloped. I was finally allowed to see my little guy 2 hours later. He looked so small and fragile with all of those wires attached.
Coleman struggled to breathe because of his lungs were not developed yet so on day 2 he had to have a vent so that they could give him some medication. This however did not prove to be easy for the staff because our little Coleman is a fighter and he did not want the tube in. Finally they had to sedate him so that he could recieve the medication. The tube was taken out the next day and he was placed on high flow oxygen. At this point Coleman was also suffering from severe jaundice and was placed under bili lights. He was so cute chilin in his incubator with these sunglasses that were as big as his head.
